Replace Fountain St. Waste Transfer Station while Centering Community Priorities
Description
Support the development of a new modern waste transfer station and the decommissioning of an existing outdated one, ensuring the transition addresses community priorities and concerns.
Why is This Important
The outdated privately-owned waste transfer station in the Middlebury neighborhood is very near to residents' homes and has been a cause of concern for many years. Permenently closing the existing transfer station and replacing it with a modern facility, in alignment with community priorities and concerns, would represent a significant and long-awaited improvement for Akron.
Initiative Wins
Secured private funding for an urban planning consulting firm, Community Planning Collaborative, to support the project.
