Parks are where Akron residents gather, play, and connect with their neighborhoods. Community‑driven redesigns ensure these spaces reflect what residents actually want, making parks more welcoming, more useful, and better cared for.
Initiative Wins
Completed the 7th installment of the Akron Parks Challenge in 2025, selecting Waters Park and Karona Park for community-led improvements.
Piloted a City Meadows program, replacing traditional grass with native meadows that beautify parks, benefit the environment, and reduce maintenance costs.
