Fund Infant Mortality Reduction Grants

Description

Reignite momentum around the Full Term First Birthday collaborative by launching a grant program, with Summit County Public Health and United Way of Summit and Medina Counties, that supports community-based providers and initiatives seeking to reduce infant mortality disparities.

Why is This Important

Infant mortality rates, particularly for Black infants in Akron, represent one of our community's most urgent health disparities. These grants directly support neighborhood organizations providing postpartum care, parenting support, and preventive health services where they are needed most.

Initiative Wins

  • Established the Infant Health Fund, a mini-grant program supporting grassroots efforts to reduce infant mortality disparities.

  • Awarded Round One grants to neighborhood-based organizations providing postpartum support, parenting education, safe sleep resources, and preventive health services.
