Description

Complete a greenhouse gas inventory and conduct Akron's first formal climate action planning process to identify opportunities for improved sustainability, resilience, and quality of life.

Why is This Important

Climate action is about improving quality of life for real people and making Akron a place where people can thrive now and in the future, while also reducing carbon pollution and preparing the city for the challenges climate change will bring. A formal Climate Action Plan gives the City a multi‑year road map for these efforts.

Initiative Wins

Completed Akron's first greenhouse gas inventory in 2025 (based on 2023 data), with support from Power a Clean Future Ohio.
Secured private funding for a Climate Action Plan and kicked off the planning process in late 2025.
