Provide proactive fire safety education to Akron residents and students to reduce fire risk and build awareness in homes and schools.
Why is This Important
Most home fires are preventable. By bringing hands-on safety education directly to Akron students and families, the Akron Fire Department helps ensure people know what to do to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Initiative Wins
Conducted 71 Safety Town educational sessions with 1,500+ students in 2025.
Installed 1,460+ carbon monoxide alarms and 1,145+ smoke alarms across Akron in 2025.

Conducted 12 Safety Town sessions with nearly 400 students as of March 2026.
Installed 560+ carbon monoxide alarms and 350+ smoke alarms as of March 2026.
What We’re Working on Next Quarter
Pursuing grant funding to upgrade the AFD Safety Town trailer, which provides simulated home fire safety training for students.
